Attachment: Beyond Infancy
Attachment is the foundation of all relationships, and when caring for children with a history of trauma and trust issues, it does not always occur easily. This training addresses the need for attachment focused care, including practical tips on how to strengthen attachment to older children. This training can help caregivers and professionals understand the basics of how attachment issues are extremely common in children who have experienced complex trauma. Attachment problems are often a core reason why caregivers and children have challenges in the placement and/or disrupt from the home.

Sexual Health in Foster CareSexual Health in Foster Care examines reproductive and sexual health in relationship to Child Welfare System youth. Foster and older adopted kids often have higher rates of risky sexual behavior, negative sexual health outcomes & sexual exploitation. They often become sexually active earlier than their peers, without being emotionally or physically ready to deal with the potential challenges this can create. Substance Use in Foster Care
This training explores the impact and rates of substance use among youth in foster care. It discusses risk factors and protective factors, how substance use effects the brain, different types of substances being used, and common warning signs of use or addiction. Attendees will leave better able to start conversations with youth on substance use and addiction and recognize the signs of use. Includes discussion on vaping, nicotine, and Fentanyl.
